吕厚远，男，1960年9月，山东嘉祥县人。1982年毕业于同济大学，获理学学士，1987年获同济大学理学硕士，1998年获中科院地质与地球物理研究所理学博士，其中1997-1998年在马普基金资助在德国国家地球科学中心客座教授，2000-2001年在美国路易斯安那大学做博士后。河北师范大学资源与环境科学学院兼职博士生导师。兼任中国第四纪科学研究会常务理事，人类演化与环境考古专业委员会主任，中国古生物学会常务理事，中国孢粉学会理事，中国青藏高原研究会理事，新疆楼兰学会常务理事。《第四纪研究》副主编。获国家杰出青年基金，中国科学院百人计划，国务院政府特殊津贴。在学术刊物发表 200余 篇，其中被SCI、EI、ISTP、SSCI、A&HCI、ISSHP收录 107篇。
研究领域：全球变化、孢粉学、第四纪地质学、环境考古。
