Alexander Khotsianovsky Dr.AlexanderKhotsianovsky,NationalAcademyofSciencesofUkraine,PisarenkoInstituteofStrengthofMaterials,Ukraine；In-watermotionspeedofmodernsurfacevesselsislimitedbyviscousresistance/dragofwater,whichincreaseswiththemotionspeed.Thelecturedescribesthelatestdevelopmentsworldwideindrasticdragreductionbyseparatingthevesselhullfromwaterusingadisk-orcone-shapedcavitator,which“opensanumbrella”overthemajorpartofthehulltoproduceanellipsoidalairbubble(supercavity)inflatedbyanartificialornaturalairinflow,thusprovidingaveryhighmotionspeed.Thissupercavitatingprinciplewasimplementedinhigh-speedunderwatervehicles(HSUV)andsmallwaterplaneareatwinhull(SWATH)vessels,aswellasinfamousmilitaryapplications,suchasShkval(USSR,1977)andBarracuda(Germany,2005)high-speedtorpedoes.Inthisrespect,verypromisingarethelatestdevelopmentsofChinesescientists,whichimplyorganizationofthedevelopedcavitationflowbysupplyofaqueoussolutionsofhigh-molecularlinear-chainpolymers,whichforma“liquidmembrane”aroundanunderwatervehicleandensu
