Debbie Hay DebbieHay,ProfessorofUniversityofAuckland,Auckland,NewZealand.DebbieisacurrentJamesCookFellowandresearchintheHaylaboratoryfocusesonGprotein-coupledreceptors(GPCRs).Theseproteinsarethecellulartargetsofnaturalhormonesandaresomeofthemostimportantdrugtargets.Theresearchaimstocontributetothedevelopmentofmedicinestotreatmigraine,cancer,lymphaticinsufficiency,cardiovasculardisease,obesityanddiabetes,whilstrevealingfundamentalmechanismsofcellsignalling.AparticularfocusofthelabisclassBGPCRsandtheirinteractionswithaccessoryproteinsknownas“receptoractivity-modifyingproteins”.Workinthelabspansarangeofareaswithlocalandinternationalcollaborators,including:pharmacology,medicinalchemistry,peptidechemistry,structuralbiology,molecularbiology,immunohistochemistryandcultureofcelllinesandprimarycells.DebbiealsohasaparticularinterestinreceptornomenclatureinassociationwiththeInternationalUnionofPharmacology.
